Library hosts day off from school activities

Get them interested while they're young. That's what a Native American artist was trying to do Monday in teaching children about the Native culture.  As most kids in the area enjoyed a day off from school for Native American Day, these kids filed into the Rapid City Public Library for a little hands-on learning.

Kids made porcupine quill earrings, key chains with feathers and ceremonial beaded feathers, all while learning some culture.  Johnny One Feather says, "A lot of the kids nowadays, especially Native American, don't know too much about their culture anymore and I'm trying to bring it back to the children."  The library will have another Discovery Days Tuesday with the School of Mines Paleontology Club.
