They're used to handing out the accolades to their students but Thursday night it was an evening to honor some of the best educators in Rapid City. The awards for Teacher of Distinction and Teacher of the Year were given out.   About 200 people came out to honor those who inspire and educate.

Sharon Lee says, "There will be 22 Teachers of Distinction that includes the Teacher of the Year and Gold Apple Winners and then there is five other teachers that received state and national recognition and we're recognizing them also tonight."

Every spring, each school nominates a teacher that exemplifies the best qualities in the profession.This year, the Teacher of the Year Award went to Central High School science teacher, Beth Farrar who is also the Regional Teacher of the Year.
