Spearfish School District building a new school |

The start of a new school year is an exciting time for many people and that's definitely the feeling in the Spearfish School District.
Superintendent Dave Peters says Spearfish is in the process of building a new school for third to fifth graders who are currently being taught in the old high school building. And on top of that ... Peters says attendance numbers are up a little from last year.Peters says, "We're at about 1,975, so that's up about 30 students from a year ago, which is really good for us. We've had some decline in the past several years, so to have a nice plus year is great."Peters says one reason for the increase in numbers may have to do with an increase in affordable housing for the younger families throughout the city. |
