Grouse hunting prospects uncertain
Sunday, 05 September 2010 12:08
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - State wildlife managers say good nesting habitat last spring could mean decent hunting when South Dakota's grouse season opens Sept. 18. Surveys showed fewer adult grouse last spring. But regional wildlife manager Andy Lindbloom in the Game, Fish and Parks Department says good reproduction in spring could offset that decline. Hunters killed about 39,000 grouse last year, down from 47,000 in 2008.
