CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) - A night blast set for Monday will mark what would have been the 102nd birthday of Korczak
Ziolkowski, the original sculptor of the Crazy Horse mountain carving.
The ceremonial blast also commemorates the 1877 death of Oglala leader Crazy Horse, whose likeness atop a horse is being carved into southern Black Hills granite near Custer by many of
Ziolkowski's descendants.
Events include the weather-permitting pyrotechnic display
featuring a rapid-fire series of explosions and the ``Legends in
Light'' multimedia laser light show.
Admission is free with three cans of food per person or a cash
donation to the Feeding South Dakota food bank. |
