CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL, S.D. (AP) - Admission to the Crazy Horse
mountain carving is waived this weekend for residents of the
Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana and Nebraska who donate three cans of
food to charity.
The likeness of Oglala leader Crazy Horse is being carved into
southern Black Hills granite near Custer. Work on the face ended in
1998 and crews have since been blocking out the contours of the
horse's head, which will be 219 feet tall.
Through Monday, there's no admission for area residents who
bring three cans of food or make a cash donation to the Feeding
South Dakota food bank.
A ceremonial night blast is planned for Monday. |
