South Dakota Mines went down to the wire with Montana Tech in last week's season opener, prevailing 13-6 on a late touchdown.This week, it's a true 'Meeting of the Mines' as the Hardrockers host a familiar foe, the Colorado School of Mines. It's the home opener for South Dakota Mines, who doesn't play at O'Harra again until October 2nd.Opening drive, the Orediggers waste no time getting on the board as Clay Garcia dumps it off to Cody Renken who goes right up the gut for the 59 yard touchdown.Colorado Mines up 7-0 less than three minutes in. The Hardrockers answer right back.Next possession, they're in enemy territory when Nick Russell swings it out to Tyler Barth who has plenty of room along the sidelines for the 31 yard score. South Dakota Mines D stepping up as Brian Kemnitz breaks through the line and brings down Garcia.That drive comes up empty for the Orediggers. Next set of downs for the Hardrockers, Jamie Dale takes the handoff, finds some space and is off to the races.The junior picks up 38 yards before he's chased down inside the five. Two plays later, Everett Brill, the linebacker who had the game winning TD last week, gets the call at the goal line again.He punches it in from the two as the Hardrockers go up 14-7, but it's all Colorado Mines from their as the Orediggers win 52-24.
